Behind the Lens

I am an amateur photographer based in Suffolk, England. I mainly shoot landscapes and seascapes, travel and street photography.

I first started photography when I was about 18 (many years ago), when I spent my savings on a Yashica FX3. It was the days of film so I had to learn the fundamentals of photography and the exposure triangle. At university I had the opportunity to pick up some basic darkroom techniques. However, a full-on career and busy family life followed, meaning that for many years my photography became limited to holiday ‘snaps’ and taking pictures of the kids as they grew up.

However, now retired, I have picked up photography again and I’m trying to develop my skills further, after many years of telling myself I didn’t have the time.

I am really enjoying getting out with the camera at every opportunity, editing and sharing my photos and developing my own style. I do it primarily for my own enjoyment, but I hope someone out there likes my images and gets some enjoyment from them as well.
